FIDIA S.r.l. - Technical Global Services
supports Engineers, Architects, quantity surveyors, professional organizations, agencies and enterprises both in projects of strengthening
through FRP advanced composite systems, which aim to restore the integrity of the structure, and in the design of new reinforced concrete
members reinforced with FRP bars. Thanks to its long experience, FIDIA S.r.l. is able to study advanced structural solutions to solve any kind of engineering
problem, such as:
- Seismic upgrade and structural strengthening
FIDIA S.r.l. proposes FidFORTIFICA®, the FRP composite systems of last generation for strengthening, restoring and seismic upgrading of structures made of either concrete, masonry, timber or steel. The only system that allows
the use of common fibers like Carbon, Glass and Aramid, and innovative ones such as the revolutionary UltraHighTensileStrengthSteel fibers (impregnable with either epoxy and hydraulic and cementitious mortar) and recently Basalt, Hemp and Flax fibers
able to provide CFRP, GFRP, AFRP, SRP, SRG, BFRP, HFRP and FFRP composites. FidFORTIFICA® is the first system that recommends use of special optimized matrixes in relation to the mechanical properties of each fiber in order to
increase and optimize all performance of the composite system and the structural material to which they are bonded. FidFORTIFICA® is recommended for seismic upgrade, flexural strengthening, shear and confinement of beams, columns,
piers, slabs, bridge deck, masonry panels, arches, vaults, domes, and any other structural member. The possibility of choosing the more suitable impregnation resin for the different types of fiber used, choosing between LM (low modulus), MM (medium modulus),
HM (high modulus) and HTM (high modulus thixotropic). Moreover, FIDIA has extended its knowledge in the sector of building protection and mitigation from dynamic loads caused by earthquake shocks, winds or explosions, developing solutions
that join the benefits of composite materials with highly deformable resins, allowing to realize effective protective systems, maintaining the ease of composite installation steps unmodified. Thanks to the collaboration agreements signed with material
manufacturers of fiber sheet, FRP bars and pultruded profiles, in Italy as well as worldwide, FIDIA can satisfy all its customer's requirements, according to the CNR-DT 200/2004, and other international design guide lines (ACI, FIB, UK, Japanese, Canadian).
which govern the design and the execution of strenghtening and retrofit jobs in the civil engineering and architectural industry.
- New reinforced concrete structures with GFRP rebars
Design and material supply for new concrete structures reinforced
with GFRP bars, in agreement with the design guidelines
CNR-DT 203/2006 "Guidelines for the Design, the Execution
and the Control of concrete Structures through composite
bars". Glass fibers bars are widely used worldwide for new
structures in substitution of traditional steel bars thanks
to their durability, strength capacity, magnetic transparency,
no thermal conductivity and lower density making them ideal
for all type of structures that are exposed in aggressive
environments such as: road and geotechnical infrastructures,
for bridge decks, walls, tunneling, retaining and mining
applications such as as "soft-eyes", soil nails, rock bolts,
extraction tanks, railways, motorways, marine works such
as seawalls, artificial reefs, water breaks and floating
marine decks, in the sector of prefabrication, both structural
(tilt-up panels) and decorative, and trial sectors that
need an electromagnetic transparency, i.e. hospitals, concrete
near high voltage cables, transformers and subsations.
- New structural entirely made of composite materials
Design and material supply of structures entirely made and
realized by assembling of FRP structural pultruded profiles
in agreement to the recenty approved design guidelines CNR-DT
205/2007 "Guide for the Design and Construction of Structures
made of FRP Pultruded Elements". The benefits of employing
this new family of construction materials permits building
structures that are: corrosion resistant, low in conductivity
(thermally and electrically), nonmagnetic (electromagnetic
transparency), very light (generally FRP profiles weighs
80% less than traditional steel ones), have high strength,
stable dimensionally, maintenance free, color customizable.
In order to respond to very demanding architectural designs,
with shapes and forms that differ from traditional construction
materials, FIDIA can also support its clients by
using another technique that allows much more customization
of the final product: the VARTM (Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer
Molding) process. This process allows making shapes, by
manual lay-up of composites, in one single piece yet maintaining
the typical characteristics of advanced composite materials:
strength, lightness and durability. Thanks to the experience
of its engineers and in co-operation with other companies
highly specialized in civil engineering and architectural
industry, FIDIA S.r.l. can satisfy all customer's
requirements, supporting them during both the design, material
supply and realization construction phase.
